Week 1 technology discussion

Well, after reading the two articles I had to sit back and think about what both of them had stated through out the writings. Both authors had very valid points that I agreed with and some that I was not so in tune with. The first article I read seemed to be against the use of technology. He did not like the fact that it was not even a choice anymore. he referred to movies. Now days you don't even have a choice to buy VHS video everything on DVD. Which is true. He also talked about not being able to buy a car with manual windows or locks any more. What was wrong with the manual windows that we have to go to automatic? That was his question. I agree that this also feed in to the fact that the quicker and easier we can make tasks the better. This add to the fact that our country is the most obese in the world. It is pretty sad.

As for the other article I have to agree with some of the things he said as well. The school I teach at just approved a new grant for more than a half a million dollars to supply every classroom in the district with a new media cart. this cart consists of a laptop computer, a document cameras, a projector, DVD and VCR and microphones for instruction. These cart do make it much easier to use technology in our everyday lessons.I don;t know that it makes us more efficient teachers. It does make the material more visible and easier for students to ear. i have found that my students are more engaged in the lessons but I think it is because they are new.
